Just checking in with you...


Hi Everyone!

I wanted to just check in with you!  I miss ya'll terribly.  I've decided to do a couple things with you and wanted to send this message before next week, since the plan is to not give you work over the break.

First of all, let's start a Remind, since my Verizon service will work from home and you will have service too.  Please join today.  Download the app and sign up using the appropriate code:

Second,  please be on the lookout for a class Zoom call that I'd like you all to participate in.  We will do it the week after spring break and I will send you an invitation by Friday, April 10th for you to log in and instructions to get to the Zoom meeting.  I think a classroom meeting where we can see and hear each other would do us all good, academically, mentally, and emotionally.

Try to complete all 4 assignments that I've given you before the end of this week, if you can.  That way we can start with a clean slate on Monday when we resume learning.

The Importance of Audio

Students surround themselves with audio all day long. If they don't have on headphones, they have ear buds in their ears. Music plays constantly around them. Which is why it puzzles me so much when they don't get audio right in video production class. Their ears are solely occupied, but they are not fine-tuned to recognize subtle differences in audio quality. A video with poor images is easier to watch then a video with poor audio. It is a sign of an amateur videographer/producer/editor to make public a production that has terrible audio. I hope my students watch this video. I will give any student extra credit points if you can tell me the important points featured in this video. Write down the main points on a sheet of paper and turn it in to the class period shelf on my desk and do this before September 13th. Click on this link.

While it's not appropriate to put music over a news package, some video formats call for it. Montages, movies, etc. are some such formats.
